President's Message
December 2004

Again, I apologize for getting this month’s message out so late.  I hope everyone is having a great holiday season; however I do have some bad news, I would like to extend my condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Karen Reyes.  Karen passed away unexpectedly this past weekend.  For those that did not know Karen, she worked for DMV and was a loyal member to FATIU.  Karen will be missed by all of those that she touched.

Mr. Ron Poindexter, NICB Director of Operations-Region 5, has been working hard on the Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention Authority efforts.  He has met with several people and drafted numerous letters supporting the MVTPA.  I hope to discuss his efforts further during the Legislative Committee meeting during the January FATIU seminar, so I if you are interested in getting involved with the push to revive the MVTPA, please plan on attending.  The Legislative Committee meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 12th at 1430 hours.  PLEASE NOTE the DMV Advisory meeting has been cancelled.

Also, elections for all posts within FATIU will be held on Thursday, January 13th.  Todd Garrison will be hosting the elections and if you have any questions reference to the positions available, please contact any FATIU Board Member.  We will be glad to answer any questions you may have.

Since my move to the new position, I have lost my email list, (new building and new email server that would not conform to the old standard).  I am going to try to recreate it; however if I happen to leave someone off, or if you know of a member that I left off, please contact me so I can rebuild the list.

The newsletter should be coming out shortly.  Director Les Cravens did an excellent job and there is some new information available.  We should have copies available in Jacksonville if you don’t receive yours.  Another reminder, FATIU dues will be collected at the Jacksonville meeting and IAATI dues can be paid via the IAATI website-www.iaati.org.

That’s a wrap for the 2004 President’s Messages.  I probably won’t be doing a January message, as I do not believe I will be running for President.  My new position has me way out of the loop for auto theft, and I don’t believe it would benefit the organization to have me as the President.  I will stay involved with FATIU in some facet, hopefully though the website as the assistant web host or something like that.  I still am hoping to put together the secure message board or chat room system for our site.  Anyway, I hope to see everyone in Jacksonville, and have a safe and happy holiday season.
