President's Message January 2005

Presidents Message
 January 13, 2005

Hello FATIU Members, as your newly elected President, I thank you for your vote. The conference, which was hosted, by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Sheriff John Rutherford and Auto Theft Detective Dave Kovista was a great success.  Dave, thanks for your hard work in setting up this conference/training especially since we had to cancel with the hotel twice because of the hurricanes.  Thanks especially to Sheriff Rutherford for allowing Dave to assist FATIU with the conference.  It’s always nice to see new faces at these conferences as well as those from different areas of the state that we haven’t seen in a while. Thanks to everyone who came.  Hopefully everyone learned something new, or refreshed what they already knew.

We held our elections for 2005-2006 with the following results:

President:             Larry Duguay, Brevard County Sheriff’s Office
Vice President:      Todd Blair, Volusia County Sheriff’s Office

Directors:          Les Cravens, Miami Dade Police Department
Chip Pakulis, Lee County Sheriff’s Office
                        Pat Giammaria, DHSMV, Deland
                        Dave Dempsey, NICB

Secretary/Treasure: Sheri Taynor, DHSMV, Deland
Past President/ and our Webmaster: Buddy Riggi, Orlando Police Department

I would also like to thank Buddy Riggi for his past two years as our President, you did a great job, I only wish you would have stayed longer, but with your transfer, we all at FATIU understand, but we will continue to call on you for assistance, even though you have a new assignment.

Our next Conference is scheduled for May 11&12, 2005 In Pasco County, New Port Ritchie (West Coast of Florida), hope to see as many people there as possible.

Until my next message: Stay safe, continue to recover vehicles and put the Auto Theft Bad Guys in JAIL.
